A large thunderstorm swept in from the sea and hit Florida 's Mexico Beach early on Monday morning after warnings of a tornado threat. There was also a risk of flash flooding in the area, forecasters warned. In an X post, meteorologist Jim Cantore called the storm "dangerous" and said trailers and RVs in the area had been overturned.

After tornado warnings were issued for Lafourche, Tangipahoa and Jefferson Parishes around 6 a.m., the National Weather Service allowed those warnings to expire by 6:45 a.m. as the intensity of the storm waned. The National Weather Service issued Tornado Watch 633 for southeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi until noon CDT as storms bring the risk of damaging winds and tornadoes.
