NEW requirements for boaters! As of Jan. 1, 2018, people 16-20 years old are required to pass a boater safety education course and carry a boater safety card when driving a boat or a personal watercraft. Each year, more age groups will be required to do the same until Jan. 1, 2025 when everyone who operates a vessel will be required to pass the test and carry a boater safety card.
